AMALFI COAST & SICILY 2 week

South of Italy - Amalfi Coast, Calabria and Sicily - 2 Weeks

SUNDAY: Pick up at Rome FCO or Rome Town then transfer to Amalfi Coast
In the morning we will pick you up in Rome Airport or Town in the morning and transfer to Amalfi Coast. Stop for Lunch. We will visit Amalfi one of the most important Marinar Republic of XI century. Then we will reach the hotel, Checking in and then a little drive along the coast. Dinner and Overnight at the Amalfi Coast.. (Hotel 1)

MONDAY: Capri Island
After breakfast we will reach Capri by Ferry and have a nice walk in Capri. We will have a pause in the famous Piazzetta, a stroll around the street famous for its luxury boutiques and designer fashion stores. When you've had your eye-fill of window shopping, we will have lunch and then a nice walk up to the panorama view and take photos of the sea and the Faraglioni in the background. By Ferry we will reach Sorrento and drive through all Amalfi Coast including Positano. Dinner and overnight at the Amalfi Coast (Hotel 1)

TUESDAY: Pompeii and Countryside of Vesuvius
After breakfast we will reach Pompeii: visit one of the world’s most important archaeological sites. The day of August 24, 79 AD, began with a sudden eruption of Vesuvius. Nobody realized that was going on. A huge column of smoke that rose for kilometers, followed by a huge black cloud came over the city covering and darkening the sky with this strange rain of pebbles light and porous, still warm. Lunch in the area of Vesuvius Volcano. Then a short drive tour in Naples(if agree). Dinner and overnight at the Amalfi Coast. (Hotel 1)

WEDNESDAY: Sicily: Taormina and South East Coast
After breakfast we will reach Sicily with a stop for lunch at Calabria Coast. Then by Ferry through the Strait of Sicily and have a nice gelato in Taormina: a walk in the historical centre and the Roman Theatre. Then we will reach the South East Coast and we will stop in one of the small villages at the coast. Checking in hotel. for Dinner and Overnight. (Hotel 2)

THURSDAY:Etna Volcano and Aci Castello
After breakfast we will drive up to Etna Volcano (weather permitting) have a nice cappuccino in front of a beautiful panorama and then a soft walk around. The Etna, is the highest active volcano in Europe. Weather conditions permitting, across fascinating landscape we can reach a height of 1900 metres. After lunch we will drive South again and visit the small villages of Aci Trezza and Aci Castello. Dinner and overnight. (Hotel 2)

FRIDAY: Syracuse and Noto
Visit of Syracuse that was founded by Ancient Greek Corinthians and became a very powerful city-state. Syracuse was allied with Sparta and Corinth, exerting influence over the entire Magna Grecia area of which it was the most important city. After Lunch we will visit Noto: an unusual town, a small baroque jewel perched on a plateau overlooking the Asinaro valley . Dinner and overnight. (Hotel 2)

SATURDAY: Piazza Armerina and Inland Village (Sicily)
Today we will have a stop for Cappuccino along the way to Piazza Armerina. We will visit the Villa Romana del Casale. Containing the richest, largest and most complex collection of Roman mosaics in the world, it is one of 44 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy. Lunch in the area .Then we will drive to another small village of inland and then we will reach Agrigento Chcking in, Dinner and Overnight.. (Hotel 3)

SUNDAY: Agrigento and Valle dei Templi and Surrounding
The archaeological area known as the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, is one of the most important archeological sites in the world and a Unesco world heritage site since 1998. Along a long rocky scarp, chosen as the southern limit of the town, are still sited the great temples of ancient Akragas: the Temple of Hera (Juno) Lacinia, Concordia, Heracles (Hercules), Olympian Zeus (Jupiter), Castor and Pollux (Dioscuri) and Hephaistos (Vulcan). Lunch Dinner and overnight in Agrigento (Hotel 3)

MONDAY: Mazara del Vallo and Erice (Sicily)
Today we will drive along the South Coast with a stop in Mazara del Vallo where in the eleventh century BC we have the first contacts with the Phoenicians, who find in Mazara a great place to make stops during long journeys to Spain.. Then we will reach Erice, lunch in a typical trattoria. Erice is a very picturesque medieval town with its cobbled and narrow streets and its rich artistic and architectural heritage, has been the capital of science since 1963. We drive to Palermo for Dinner and overnight. (Hotel 4)

TUESDAY: Palermo and Relax
Visit of the town of Palermo, historical centre, one of the largest of Europe (including the Cathedral, the Palatine Chapel (supreme ruler of self-representation, united in himself piety, political ambition, proud affirmation of the majesty and power), the Royal Palace and then FREE TIME to the open market. LUNCH and DINNER on your own. Overnight in Palermo (Hotel 4)

WEDNESDAY: Cafalù and Caccamo
After breakfast we will drive to Cefalù: from the sea up to the Cathedral. We will sit out in the piazza at Bar Duomo with a gelato and enjoy the cathedral façade and the church bells marking the hour. Then we will reach Caccamo for lunch. Caccamo:It is assumed that the first urban plan was made by the Carthaginians, refugees in the country after Himera had been destroyed by Gelon, tyrant of Syracuse. Then back to Palermo for dinner and overnight. (Hotel 4)

THURSDAY: North Coast direction Calabria on the way to Rome
After breakfast we will leave Palermo and drive North direction Calabria. We will catch the ferry at Messina and we will have lunch once in Calabria region along the way. We will stop for dinner and overnight in nice a and/or comfortable location useful to continue our trip direction Rome. and overnight in Palermo (Hotel 5)

FRIDAY: Montecassino
After breakfast we will reach Montecassino. The city is best known as the site of the Abbey of Montecassino and the Battle of Monte Cassino during World War II, which resulted in tremendous Allied and German casualties as well as the near total destruction of the town itself. Arrival in the evening at Fiumicino in a hotel close to the Airport of Rome. Dinner and Overnight. (Hotel 6)

SATURDAY: Departure or transfer
Transfer to Rome airport or to Rome town or to the nearest Train Station to continue your trip.
